We had a most enjoyable day at the Hawkesbury races on Sunday. There was around 140 Hancox Bloodstock owners’ and friends in attendance. There was plenty of food and I must say the catering staff at Hawkesbury did an excellent job - I was especially happy about the dessert table.
As always it was a battle to find a winner. We all cheered as Kayarbee ran and looked like the winning half way up the straight. Unfortunatley she could only manage third after having little luck in the run.
Chris Scholze ran the punters club and after some near misses through the day he eventually landed a double and paid out a dividend of $14. It wasn’t a win but he did give our money a good run throughout the day. For those that left their ticket with me I will send a cheque later in the week.
We are now looking forward to our Cranbourne function on Sunday 8th November.
On the racing front we have had several near misses lately. On top of Kayarbee’s 3rd placing and Smiling Hussy’s 2nd last week, Hula Dane was a very unlucky third at Gosford last Thursday. He was poorly ridden and set an enormous task, giving the leaders 8 lengths start at the top of the straight after sitting 6 wide around the turn. He ran them to half a length and was the only horse to make up any ground in the race. On that run a win in just around the corner.
The Spring is well under way and it is great to see all the top horses racing. It is an exciting time for all racing enthusiasts. We are looking forward to the Caulfield Cup this weekend and the COx Plate, Derby, Melbourne Cup etc etc in the weeks ahead.
Nb. I have sold just over 700 of the 800 shares in Hancox Racing No 4 Limited. If you are interested in buying a share and racing 6 horses with us over the next few years please give me a call and I will mail out a prospectus (03) 5274 9171
