We have had plenty of runners over the past few weeks with a few near misses and Al Ahmar winning at Bathurst.
Al Ahmar was impressive coming from a clear last on the turn to win narrowly on a heavy track. John Grisedale let him find his feet early and was 3 lengths behind the second last horse. Once he settled and John had him in a nice rhythm he worked into the race and stormed home to win. On that effort there will be more wins to come.
Shaville ran another solid race at Geelong on Saturday to finish 3rd beaten a long neck. He is around the mark and is inching towards the $100,000 in prizemoney but just cannot crack it for a win this campaign.
Arctic Point also went down narrowly on the weekend. After a less than impressive ride the start before, where he was beaten a long way, he ran a super race to go down in a bobbing finish. The odds on favourite beat him by a head. He is also a very good trier and should win a race in the near future.
Monzero is another horse that has raced well in recent times. His first up 4th over 1000m at Canberra was impressive. His owners should be in for a productive campaign.
We should have a busy few months ahead with a large number of horses racing or about to race. Barb Joseph has 7 in work all either racing or about to resume. Greg Eurell has a similar number racing and add to that Thwarted (Allan Denham) Tuscan Ruler (Ciaron Maher) and Ariston (Russell Cameron) we will have our hands full. I am sure we can find some winners in there somewhere.
