Where has the news been????

Feb 08, 2012

It is obviously hard to find the time for an update.

I think I have typed up half an update three or four times without getting to the end of it.  Maybe it is a combination of the 2000+ owners, family commitments -  three children at home or the fact Shelley had a record number of puppies born here in recent months (we had 29 puppies here at one stage).  We are down to eight and Shelley has said "never again" to those numbers.

We have had some joy on the racing front since my last update with winners such as Candy Tuft and Balayeur however more often than not we seem to be running 2nd.

The team has been racing well and bringing home cheques but converting the odd placing into a win would be nice.

Eg. Hancox Racing No 4 had a run  of six 2nds from seven runners at one stage.

Balayeur ran a really good 2nd (there it is again) at Sandown at the end of last prep. and looks a promising horse.  Is a month off resuming.

Kayarbee and Shaville haven't had much luck but are fit and are capable of winnning one soon. Concini (2nd fist up between by 100-1 pop) is knocking on the door of a win as is Magic Rhythm and Al Ahmar.

We will have our first runner for Hancox Racing No 5 on Saturday in Velonski. He is running at Bendigo and should acquit himself well.  He is only small but if attitude counts for anything he will make it as a racehorse.  He is one of the most loved horses in the stable - a real character who seems to step up whenever asked.  HR5 may have their 2nd runner as soon as Tuesday at Queanbeyan - CLASS BEATS.

NB. I do still have share for sale in Hancox Racng No 5 Ltd.  Get in now and enjoy some racing action immediately.

It was remiss of me not to mention the award Shelley Hancox won during the year at the Victorian Owners and Breeders Awards. Shelley was awarded the TROA Oustanding Contribution to Ownership Award. Shelley and I attended the awards night - It was a terrific night held at the MCG with many of racings hierachy in attendance. Black Caviar did, of course, clean up many of the awards. (I would send out a photo of the trophy but it was stolen along with my car soon after the awards night.  Car returned almost in one piece - not the trophy)

I am often asked a couple of questions.

1. How are the kids? The oldest two, Harry and Louis are at school now, Grade 1 and Prep. and Scarlett is two and running the whole house.  Two is a very amusing age and she is quite a character.  I will upload a photo with the next news update.

2. What is happening to Belong To Many's foals?  The first one, by More Than Ready, will be sold at Easter this year. Her 2nd foal, by Redoutes Choice died at birth and I believe she has returned to Redoutes this year.
