“Winners are Grinners”  and lots of reasons to smile at Hancox Bloodstock as our horses keep out performing their pedigrees and yearling price – headline act EL OF A TIME ($4,500 yearling) at Canterbury yesterday (10 April) wins a 1250m race in Class record time!

We  thought it capped off a pretty good weekend when the $10,000 yearling AL AHMAR (by Al Maher) won his NINTH race with a demolition job on the Gundagai Cup field over 1800 metres.

This six year old trained  for us by Barb Joseph and Paul Jones at Canberra has been a super and durable horse for his syndicate; he has now raced 46 times over 5 seasons for 9 wins and 15 minor placings and $130,00 plus in earnings.

The previous day (Saturday 6th April) SPIRIT OF MANY punched out strongly by Brent Evans kept his 800 owners in Hancox Racing No.4.Ltd happy with a win over 1600 metres at Werribee. That was his fifth win.

On Friday (5 April) at Kyneton BALAYEUR brought up two in a row when he went to the line strongly under Stephen Baster to record a win over 1850m, following a win at Ballarat over 1600m two weeks earlier. That was his third win with 6 minor placings and he looks like developing into a nice middle distance horse for his syndicate and trainer, Greg Eurell.

EL OF A TIME is the first horse we have had with Warwick Farm trainer Greg Hickman. Greg has very similar philosophies to ours – purchase price means very little out on the race course, it does not equate to ability and we doubt horses discuss their purchase price and pedigrees behind the barrier stalls ! El Of A TIME has now raced 14 times for 4 wins and 5 minor placings and $66,000.

Also racing well is the Ciaron Maher trained young hurdler VIKING TIGER – he broke his maiden in a 2000m at Colac, followed up with a good third over 2200m at Warrnambool and is almost ready to resume jumping.

Also in the winners circle in recent weeks for ourselves and Greg Eurell have been SNIP OF A GIRL and DANZOYA. Danzoya has a minor interruption to his career having just had a chip removed from his knee.

Also worth a mention is one of our former syndicated horses SHYSTA. This accomplished wet tracker is on target for the Warrnambool Carnival. Her record now reads 40 starts for 7 wins, 8 minor placings and $151,000 - not too bad for a sway backed $2,500 yearling. Her current trainer AARON PURCELL has a promising filly for us in STORM LASS , a winner on debut and ready to resume racing late May.

A recent update of our achievements in the last 22 years showed 584 syndicated horses at a cost of $5.6 million – 302 individual winners of 1037 races and $14.8 million in prizemoney.  Currently we have 8 unraced 3YO’s and 8 unraced 2YO’s.

Our results have been achieved with low cost syndications and from a team of just  under 40 horses. We have current syndications of rising 2YO’s under way and will be launching HANCOX RACING NO.6 Ltd next week.
