A lot of Hancox horses seem to go into hibernation for the winter and we were very light on the winner front for the months of July and August.
Luckily enough our Spring started with a bang with a double at Canberra last Friday. Both Al Ahmar and Candy Tuft saluted in what was a breakout day for 4kg claiming apprentice Claire Gee. Al Ahmar was a sit and steer job as he proved far too strong for his rivals - that is not to downplay Claire's efforts as she did settle Al Ahmar very well and got him out at just the right time - Al Ahmar did the rest. It was his 12th win and tipped his prizemoney over $200,000. He is an old marvel and the prizemoney he has earnt now puts him in the Joseph /Jones Hall Of Fame. Barb Joseph and Pual Jones have done a fantastic job with one of our old favourite horses for many years now. He ran his first race for us back in Sept 2009.
Candy Tuft was impressive in winning her 6th race later on the program. After missing the start Claire Gee took her to the front and rated her very well. Claire kept her off the fence. looking for the best going and Candy proved too strong in the run to the line.
A Double for us, Claire and the Joseph/Jones team.
Al Ahmar heads to Rosehill on Saturday and Candy to Gundagai on Sunday.
We also have Divine Reign running at Geelong tomorrow, Maglissa at Morphetville on Saturday and Zerzura at Gundagai on Sunday.
It is an exciting time of the year for all racing enthusiasts with all the good horses appearing on our racetracks. The last few weeks racing have been fantastic and augurs well for the next couple of months. There are Gr 1 races in both Melbourne and Sydney this weekend.
I will ask Shelley to do some homework and deliver some tips in the coming weeks.
I recently emailed information on a Spring racing function called the LATE MAIL LUNCHEON. It is held at the Sofitel in Melbourne on Friday 31st October and will be a great day out. 3 course meal, drinks, Entertainment for the afternoon and many of Australia's top trainers will be there giving their tips for the week at Flemington as well.
Tickets are still available - Contact Mark Skaife on 0409 473 541
Tell him your are a Hancox Client to receive a discount on the tickets and he may even sit you on a table with me (Rod Peacock).
Official Invite is in "The Vault" for hancox owners - ie. login to site.
I haven't spoken to our man at Centrebet recently - he is busy with football finals. I might see if he can find some tickets to the races for us over the next month or so.
Shares for Sale
I have 4 x 5% shares for sale in a lovely 3yo colt by Econsul x Perfect Lass. He has been broken-in to rave review and is ready to start his first prep. Breaker said
"he is a nicer horse than the real expensive yearlings I have broken in this year - he will be winning races"
I always take these comments with a grain of salt as it is too early to tell but better to be getting promising reports than him saying the horse has square wheels. $650 per share and $150 per month.
I also 4 shares shares left in a Written Tycoon gelding. Very impressive individual and image of his father. Get in before RICH ENUFF (by Written Tycoon) wins the Danehil Stakes on Saturday en route to the Caulfield Guineas. See FOR SALE page for details.
I share has popped up in Miss Del Toro - currently spelling. Won a race last prep. Finished 2nd and 3rd last 2 starts. Has city class ability. Suggested price $600 for 5%.
Check out the FOR SALE page for new syndicates.
